Q: What do you foresee as the biggest influences on the industry in the next five years and how will they impact the industry? A: Market consolidation (attrition and acquisition). Technology and ease-of-use. Mass production and delivery to drive down the cost of production. The greater opening and acceptance of world markets. Tactical, strategic and creative maneuvering by the manufacturers. Q: Next ten years? A:Technology will be everything. Survival of the fittest of today's players. The entry of new industry players that will redefine how business is done and reshape customer expectations. Will the projector have the same reliability, quality and penetration of the TV in homes today? Can the projector create a "personal" experience for every user? Q: What are the as-yet untapped markets for your market niche? A: The market is very immature, only now emerging. Certainly the easy answer is in home use. But in reality, the PC industry made this same mistake in its early years. The home is a future marketplace. In the next three years, it will only represent a small percentage of real sales. The business, government and education sectors have much room for growth. The world has become very visual. Technology enables virtual meetings and discussions. The cost of travel is beginning to chew away at the benefits of meeting face-to-face. The cost of business will be greatly improved through the use of visual technologies to integrate meeting discussions. The human race is social by nature, making web casts at workstations useful, but the gathering of people will still create a sense of community. Large video conferencing through the use of projectors to create images in actual real-life size will create a better sense of togetherness not unlike the hologram concept we all have witnessed in Sci-Fi movies like Star Wars. We need to continue to create a greater sense of reality in our virtual settings. Visuals created by projectors will get better and better. Coupled with amazing audio, they will transport disparate meetings and gatherings to become and create a sense of one. This is only one example. There are many more places and systems that the current market can consume. The home is definitely a future frontier. It just has a few more barriers to remove before it becomes a mainstay for the industry.
