Now, what this comes down to is…how do we handle these complex relationships? In order for everyone to come out of this flourishing, we need to remember that these are not human relationships. These relationships can survive this torrid triangle and more importantly for your business to survive; you must understand all the complexities of these relationships.

…learn more about every point of this triangle; you will reap the benefits very soon.
A great relationship counselor and author once said "when we move beyond an independency stage to an interdependency stage we have truly grown." This philosophy hold true here as well; these three technologies are truly interdependent. We see their interdependencies more every day. Telecom switching systems are now computer based, IT systems in meeting rooms are being projected to enable true collaboration, and Videoconferencing manufacturers are focusing on data sharing and display.

In order for us to take advantage of this situation, we must do one thing - get educated. The more we know about these technologies and how they interact and their interdependencies, the better chance we have to survive and make a healthy profit. As in all relationships, there is an evolutionary and dynamic environment. We are living it! I encourage everyone who reads this to learn more about every point of this triangle; you will reap the benefits very soon.

On a side note, I can say from experience, that the product of these relationships can be good. Take me for example; I am quite pleased with the path my career has taken in the wake of this love affair. I am living proof this can work. I'm an electronics technician turned IT manager, who then went to work for a projector manufacturer for telecom product support, and finally a trainer for all of these technologies.

What's the bottom line? Plain and simple - there's plenty of love to go around. We won't be fighting for market share in the segments of this triangle for a long time. There's room for us all. So what Bubba don't know won't hurt him, at least in this relationship. These guys can go on "cheating" and we're actually all the better off for it.
