Statement released to PresentationMaster.com today from Jim Hall, Epson director, audio visual product management:

"Our presence at InfoComm will be extensive. We will have our largest booth ever and will demonstrate our products in the best possible conditions. The Shoot-Out is no longer necessary to see just how good the image quality can be.

"It is our opinion that the format of the Shoot-Out does not allow Epson to strengthen our differentiation. In the Shoot-Out, the projectors are grouped by class and arranged by price. When this product line was relatively new, the most important differentiator was brightness. As long as your image quality was good, the model that was brightest received the most attention. This is no longer true. Today, the projector that has the lowest MSRP for a given brightness is the one most noticed.

"Epson America has the most efficient projectors available. We put more light on the screen compared to the input power than any other brand. Our dealers tell us that we have fewer failures out of the box and are more dependable. Our overnight replacement service, 3-day repair turn-around, and PrivateLine phone card lead the industry. None of these advantages can be seen in the Shoot-Out.

"We will continue to work with the ICIA Shoot-Out committee to develop a new format for the Shoot-Out that allows Epson to highlight that which we feel is most important to our customers. In the meantime, we look forward to welcoming visitors in our booth on the main show floor."
