Panoram PV Series desktop displays
The PV Series of desktop visualization displays from Panoram Technologies takes advantage of a computer's ability to provide expanded resolution and multi-channel output and allows users to run any application in any window, at any size, anywhere on the screen. Branded by Panoram as the MegaDesktop, the PV Series' technology handles screen management at
the operating system's level, optimizing productivity for both the computer and the user. The MegaDesktop works much like a regular computer screen but offers three times the resolution and far more "real estate" on which to organize your work. Able to accommodate and switch up to twelve sources-and compatible with NT, Windows, Unix, and Mac platforms-the PV Series will maintain its value regardless of upgrades or replacements.

Proxima X350 UltraLight projector
Now merged with InFocus Corporation, Proxima has launched the UltraLight X350, a three-pound projector featuring the latest in projection technology. The 1100-lumen Proxima X350 is the industry's first digital projector to include true XGA (1024 X 768) resolution and smart electronics in an easy-to-use, easy-to-carry three-pound package. This tiny projector is upgradeable: users can take advantage of video functionality by connecting a video module (free for a limited time) that adds support for RCA, S-Video, and a speaker. The X350 is small enough to take on the road but bright and versatile enough to be used permanently in conference rooms and offices. [Due to their merger with Proxima, InFocus is offering two different projectors with similar model numbers: the Proxima X350 and the InFocus LP350, both covered here in Product Previews. -Ed.]

Hitachi CP-S225W and CP-S310W ultra-portable projectors
Hitachi's CP-S225W is not your typical 5-pound projector. With a short throw distance and 1000 ANSI lumens, this SVGA projector can sit close to the screen rather than in the middle of your conference-room table. Plus, it's very quiet-only 30db in Whisper Mode. The CP-S225W has a component input and is HDTV ready. Other features include digital zoom, digital keystone, and manual zoom/focus.

Brother to the CP-S225W is Hitachi's CP-S310W, a bright SVGA projector with an affordable price tag. This ultra portable offers 1600 ANSI lumens in a 7 lb. package, plus two RGB inputs, RGB output, RS232C control terminal, composite and S-Video inputs, and manual zoom/focus. Other features include digital zoom, digital keystone correction, and a slide lens cover.

Doremi Labs V1 MP2-HD video disk recorder
Doremi Labs introduces the V1 MP2-HD video disk recorder with MPEG2 4:2:2 recording and playback of high definition video. The MP2-HD is ideal for large-screen presentations, digital cinema, and other large high-resolution display applications. Excelling as a drop-in replacement for any high definition tape machine for HDTV broadcast and post-
production, the MP2-HD features simultaneous record and play capability for time delay and instant replay of live video feeds, such as sports broadcasts. The unit's advanced recording functions takes it beyond the realm of other playback devices, as it simultaneously records one channel of video, up to eight channels of analog or AES/EBU audio, and time code.

Mitsubishi X80 ColorView LCD projector
The X80 from Mitsubishi represents a first step toward manufacturing LCD projectors that can reproduce the same natural color tones as other display devices, like CRT monitors. Images displayed through the X80 ColorView, an XGA LCD projector, will visually resemble the same images when displayed in a CRT-based display device or other sRGB-compliant devices. (sRGB is a color space that was developed in 1999 and defined with specifications compliant to the international color standard IEC 61966-2-1.) In addition to its color handling and display features, the X80 offers 1500 ANSI lumens that can deliver high quality images in both video and computer presentations. With a weight of only 7.7 pounds, the X80 provides a balance between portability and performance.

Kramer SG-6005 audio generator
Kramer introduces the SG-6005, a broadcast-quality generator for studio applications. This all-in-one solution is a six-output black burst generator, a one-output color bar generator, a user-programmable color matte, and an audio generator. Using what Kramer calls "digital synthesis technology," the SG-6005 allows for full SCH/Phase control, 13 different test patterns, H&V delay, and a phase error of less than 1-degree. The SG-6005 is rack-mountable and RS-232 controllable.

D-Tools System Integrator and DataXchange data solutions
D-Tools introduces the latest additions to its lineup of intuitive software and data solutions: System Integrator (Si) Version 2.1. and DataXchange. Providing a comprehensive solution for equipment manufacturers and their system integrators, Si and DataXchange work together to simplify the design processes facing custom systems. The Si software allows dealers to design, engineer, document, and estimate complex commercial installations while supporting multiple design methodologies. Si users will benefit from over 26,000 SKUs of current and accurate equipment data accessible through DataXchange, a web-based data-sharing environment that centralizes product information for manufacturers, dealers, and integrators.

NEC PlasmaSync jumbo display
NEC has announced the development of the industry's largest plasma display: the PlasmaSync 61 MP1, a 61-inch monitor designed to meet the business and educational sectors' demand for large screens. With a peak brightness of 600cd/m2 and excellent contrast levels (in bright light, 80:1; in dark conditions, 1000:1), the PlasmaSync has the highest specifications in the industry for its size. Luminance efficiency has been improved, resulting in 30% decrease in power consumption. This jumbo display has been equipped with many features that are expected to make it popular in the home theatre market, including a cinema-mode function for high vision 1080i and a digital processor that can convert interlaced input to progressive scan input on the fly, enabling great improvement in picture quality.
