Miranda Announces New Series of Distribution Amplifiers

Jun. 06, 2001 -- Miranda Technologies today announced the release of (DENSITE'), a distribution amplifier platform that supports analog, digital and high-definition video, as well as analog and digital audio, in the same frame. (DENSITE') is a universal audio/video/HD distribution amplifier series designed to provide high module density at a low cost. Additionally, (DENSITE') provides flexibility and system control with hot-swappable boards and an optional control system to simplify monitoring and configuration. Up to 20 DA modules of any signal type can be installed in any combination.

Users can swap out cards quickly because the connection data remains on the frame while card status information stays with the card -- so neither time nor information is lost through hot-swapping. An optional enhanced controller card with Ethernet connectivity is available for full monitoring and configuration capabilities from devices such as a Palm Pilot, a PC, the Miranda RCP100 remote control panel, or a control network such as Miranda's iControl.

The (DENSITE') series, which was demonstrated for the first time at NAB 2001, includes a first series of 17 audio/video/HD distribution amplifiers. The series includes:

-Analog Audio DAs: a standard version, a second version with EQ, and a third with remote gain

-Analog Video DAs: basic mono and stereo versions

-Digital Audio DAs: 75 and 110 ohm versions

-Digital Video DAs: EQ, analog video monitoring out, analog audio and video monitoring versions

-HDTV DAs: version with EQ, reclocking, and composite analog monitoring out

The 2 RU (DENSITE') frame is built with molded magnesium, which provides improved heat distribution to accommodate the high module density. The result is a very light frame that can be stacked closely, without having to allow extra space for cooling. The frame is fan-cooled and offers redundant power supplies and fans that can be monitored via GPI, RS-232 serial port.
