"There exists a world within our world. A world beneath what we call cyberspace. A world protected by firewalls, passwords and the most advanced security systems. In this world we hide our deepest secrets, our most incriminating information, and of course, a whole lot of money. This is the world of Swordfish."

And this is how Pro AV company Scharff-Weisberg handled the screening party for the premiere of this Warner Brothers thriller, which opened in June. The outdoor club included an outdoor nightclub, giant screens, dance stages and high-energy lighting.

  • Four 15' x 20' screens, two 6' x 8' screens from Stewart, Draper & Da-Lite
  • 12 Digital Projection Projectors (a mix of 7-and-8gv¹s),
  • Six Sony beta players,
  • Six Sony S-VHS decks,
  • Two Grass Valley 110 switcher packages.

"This was such a unique project and a very interesting way to make a public spectacle out of a private gathering," said Michael Halper, Scharff-Weisberg VP of staging. "It was one of the most amazing events I have ever been involved with and could not have been achieved without the powerful imaging technology of Digital Projection's displays.

Screens sizes for the event ranged from 6-ft. x 8-ft. thru 15-ft. x 20-ft and the projectors were fed via twelve networked sources and two 110 switcher packages by Grass Valley Group.
