(Oct. 26, 2001) -- StereoGraphics Corporation, the world's leading supplier of stereoscopic visualization products, today announced that its CrystalEyes3 stereoscopic eyewear is part of a state-of-the-art visualization system recently installed by Murphy Oil Company Limited in Calgary, Canada, a division of Murphy Oil Corporation, a worldwide leader in oil and gas exploration and production. The new system, incorporating CrystalEyes 3, is the first active stereo digital projection system purchased for use in energy exploration, enabling geologists, geophysicists and engineers to work together in a collaborative visualization environment.

Murphy Oil Company Limited selected the SGI Reality Center visualization facility based on Onyx2 systems and an 8-foot by 16-foot Fakespace Systems WorkWall as the optimal visualization system for its application requirements. CrystalEyes 3 shuttering eyewear provides the active stereo component, offering bright stereoscopic images that enable scientists to work with seismic data in a truly collaborative environment. By using CrystalEyes 3 with the extremely bright (5,000 lumens per projector) display, participants work with very crisp stereoscopic subsurface simulations in a well-lit room where they can also reference notes, printouts and drawings. CrystalEyes 3 works with all stereo-enabled graphics cards and software applications. It is compatible with all computer operating systems including Linux, UNIX, Windows 2000 and Windows NT workstations. All leading GIS/mapping, molecular modeling, industrial VR and MCAD software developers support stereoscopic viewing and are compatible with CrystalEyes 3.
