Time on the signage is sold by Viacom, he says, and current advertisers include CBS, Entertainment Tonight and Capitol Records.

He says a good 95 percent of his work is done on After Effects or Scala.

He isn’t crazy about the scheduling interface but says the system is great, he's very pleased, and hasn't run across any real difficulties. And because they sell content at a minimum of two-week flights, it isn’t a big issue.

"The best thing about Scala is its stability," he says.

The system was installed during October 2001, and the grand opening of Hollywood & Highland was in November. Scala has since introduced InfoChannel 3, an impressive upgrade -- even a bit of a paradigm shift -- to the software, which has been used by cable television stations, and satellite and terrestrial-based broadcast networks since 1987.
