New 42" Plasma Display from Electrograph Systems

"Electrograph has established themselves as a real player in the Plasma space. This monitor, if it actually garners a 530:1 contrast ratio, will certainly raise some eyes around the floor at CEDIA and COMDEX this fall. But, the scaling from 1600 x 1200 resolutions is unique. It will get a lot of attention from the SIGGRAPH and CAD crowd."

Hauppauge, NY, August 28, 2000 - Electrograph Systems Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Manchester Equipment Co., Inc., and one of the largest wholesale distributor of plasma display monitors in the United States, today introduced the Electrograph DTS42, a 42" plasma display monitor. The Electrograph DTS42 is the third plasma display monitor to be manufactured under the Electrograph brand.

The DTS42 has a built-in scaler, giving the panel the ability to display high resolution computer images of up to UXGA (1600 x 1200). In addition to the UXGA scaling ability, the DTS42 also incorporates 90 degree portrait mode, electronic zoom with adjustable magnification, picture in picture, picture freeze, built in sound system, programmable on-screen display, 530:1 contrast ratio and a peak brightness rating of 400cd/m2.

"The DTS42 is another demonstration of Electrograph's commitment to bringing the next generation of display technology to the plasma market," said Sam Taylor, President of Electrograph Systems. "As the display industry moves forward into the digital age, and as the demand for digital convergence products grows, Electrograph will continue to be a leader in bringing this exciting new technology to the display marketplace and to our nationwide dealer base."

Carl Mandelbaum, Electrograph's Vice President of Marketing added, "The Electrograph brand is a flagship at the forefront of the plasma display market, guaranteeing our customers the very latest in plasma display technology. Our primary goal at Electrograph is to provide our customers with the highest quality display technology solutions available in the marketplace."

In addition to the DTS42, Electrograph also recently introduced the world's first true direct digital plasma display monitor, the Electrograph Direct Digital Model E4203DD, a 42" display utilizing technology developed and licensed from the BBC and integrated by Electrograph engineers. The Electrograph E4203DD Direct Digital Plasma Display uses digital processing only for higher clarity and brightness and none of the artifacts usually associated with analog displays.
