According to recent S.F. Convention & Visitor Bureau figures, the number one visited attraction in San Francisco is Fisherman's Wharf, representing more than 17 million consumers annually. Of that audience, 10.5 million of them go to Pier 39 to shop, dine and attend year-round sponsored events. Additionally, Pier 39 studies reveal that 62% of their traffic is from California and 38% are from the bay area. These affluent consumers represent a prime target for advertisers due to their high discretionary incomes and the buying atmosphere offered by the surrounding area.

These visitors are now treated to a 9' X 15' video wall, developed and installed by San Francisco Outdoor TV. The LED screen by Barco features full motion video and sound capability and operates from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., 7 days a week with programs that feature the best of San Francisco and the bay area, including headline news features, sports, weather and trivia.

"We create and produce our multimedia using various tools as described in our software list," explains Kevin Comora, account executive at San Francisco Outdoor TV. "We shoot original video and edit segments using an Avid 9000 editing system. We import the finished video segments into the Vitel Profiler for conversion to MPEG2 and then time and schedule those segments to play within the Scala script. The Scala script contains all of the editorial segments such as the history of the Golden Gate bridge, Cable Cars, Fisherman's Wharf and other segments on Alcatraz, Angel Island, Mission Dolores, etc."

In addition to the editorial segments, they run commercials for our advertisers such as Sony pictures, Dodge, Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority, Yahoo, Wells Fargo and others, as well as headline news, sports, weather, trivia, this day in history
and famous quotes.

"
All of this information, contained in one Scala script is then timed and scheduled and sent via high speed, dedicated T1 line the 2.6 miles to Pier 39 from our Market Street location," says Comora. "We can confirm receipt of the script and start playing the script, remotely and changes can be done immediately, depending on file size and content."
