In the Digital Media Market, COMDEX is one of the key show sources for latest and greatest in the technologically savvy world. Amid an array of the latest in wireless products, digital scanners and T-shirt giveaways, the presentation industry was at hand showing the latest in presentation technology.

Epson participated in DigitalFocus 2000; a digital media based pre-show unfurling their latest digital projectors that offer video performance in PC-free presentations. Unlike their neighboring booth displays, Epson simply showed up, plugged the projectors in and were in business. No fussy installs or set-ups for these guys. The PowerLite 7700p and 715c represented Epson's newest creations in video presentation technology. Specifically, the PowerLite 7700p offers 3000 ANSI lumens, Epson's brightest portable projector yet. It weights in at a handy-dandy 15.2 pounds and has a nearly silent sound performance at approximately 38db. The weight and noiselessness of the projector makes it great for traveling presentations. For brightness, it allows light to travel through three 1.3-inch aperture LCDs with "Micro Lens Array", to produce an ultra-bright image in 1020 x 768 XGA resolution. Resizing components can support both MACs and PCs

up to 1600 x 1200 UXGA resolution, maintaining much of the original resolution. It comes HDTV-ready, can display component video and supports an array of digital video signals.

The PowerLite 715c is exceptionally mobile, weighing in at 10.5"D x 3.5"H x 8.4"W, 5.8 pounds and 1200 ANSI lumens, the advanced imaging features compliment the Epson Commuter Series projectors. Epson introduced EasyMP, a feature technology that allows users to run computer presentations without the PC. The presentation files are transferred to a PC card that can be inserted directly into the projector. Epson's conversion software modifies the file to the projector setting that then allows the user to edit, rearrange, create notes directly on the slide or simply show the presentation. The PowerLite 715c offers 400:1 contrast ratio and true 1024 x 768 XGA resolution, complete with component video input and video quality features, it can easily project DVDs, video cassettes and nearly any video content.

NEC-Mitsubishi (www.necmitsubishi.com) was there to show off the latest in the micro-portable and ultra portable projectors, including the new flat-panel 15-inch and 17-inch screen size monitors targeted to a wider audience who want to experience high quality and affordable displays (see Presentation Master's full description of this at: http://www.presentationmaster.com/aHTM/HomeSet1.htm). This continues the Solutions with Vision campaign to provide presentation solutions, not just new product features. In expanding their repertoire, NEC Mitsubishi Visual Systems Corporation and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation announced they will work hand in hand with Microsoft to develop universal reference specifications and testing criteria for LCD monitors. The endeavor is called Microsoft ClearType font technology and is aimed at providing the clearest possible text display. The increasing popularity of flat-panel monitors creates a need for improved quality of text displays. "Currently, there is no ideal flat panel monitor that fully supports the ClearType font technology available in the market," said Chris Connery, product line manager, NEC Mitsubishi "NEC-Mitsubishi believes that the monitor plays a crucial role in the Internet age and by combining Microsoft's ClearType and Mitsubishi Electric's new LCD LSI with our award winning flat-panel monitors, we will continue to provide our users with the best possible viewing experience."
