Hardware Design - an oxymoron? By Gary Kayye, CTS

Are there not any other colors than gray, black and white (and of course everyone's favorite, beige) for technology hardware?

Is Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Computer, the only creative person in technology today?

What the heck is the deal?

Every computer I have ever owned looked like every other computer I have ever owned. OK, they did change the laptop colors once, but that's it. This is ridiculous. This is why we are all called geeks. We apparently have no creativity. Heck, I guess we are geeks.

Apple is changing the way we feel about computers. They are injecting emotion into what we see now as a box full of software and making it something we want to keep out on display - no matter our décor or style.

Listen, Apple was counted down and out by everyone (including this author) just a mere two years ago. In fact, I bought stock in Apple as I figured the worse thing that could happen is that they get sold and I get stock in someone else - maybe Microsoft or IBM. But, no, Steve Jobs had a plan and he actually made me have to like Apple as I have made more money on their stock than virtually any other stock I have ever owned. I almost feel guilty for lambasting guys like Tim Broderick of VTV Productions and Joel Rollins of Riverview Systems a few years back as I cheered Apple's demise.
