The PlasmaSync 42PD2 includes a 2x2 matrix capability that allows configuration of an 84" diagonal image with no external equipment, a programmable timer that allows the monitor to virtually operate itself, NEC's AccuShield Phosphor Protection System and an anti-glare screen filter for viewing in harsh ambient lighting conditions. "The PD Series also incorporates a unique cabinet design that allows a small form-factor PC, available from one of our 3rd party PlasmaSync partners, to be installed inside the monitor to provide a totally self-contained digital signage solution. With this array of unique capabilities, NEC's PD Series is enabling broader deployment of plasma monitors in public environments," said Scott Evans, product marketing manager for the Visual Systems Division at NEC Technologies.
Pricing and Availability
The PlasmaSync 42MP2 will ship in September 2000, and the 42PD2 will be available in October 2000. The suggested retail price for the 42MP2 is $9,995 and is $9,495 for the 42PD2. The monitors include a 1-year warranty and have an optional Extended Warranty that can be purchased through an authorized NEC Technologies dealer for an additional two years of coverage.
